The Summer Chiller
A drama and music workshop with a difference!

The Summer Chiller: Details

The first ever Rhythm Kitchen event took place in August 2004. The Summer Chiller was a joint 1-day workshop of music and drama. Pairing up with local drama coach Daphne Reynolds, the day saw children between the ages of 4 and 12 taking part in various activities.

In the music classes, children gained confidence in singing and performing. They learnt to free up their singing voices by singing African songs and learning the African style of yodelling.

Daphne's drama classes were very exciting. In the stage fighting classes, James Bonds and super heroes fought great battles.

The combined music and drama class brought together stage fighting and sound. By using their voices and playing various percussion instruments, children created sound effects to their gruesome fight scenes.

Thank you to all who helped make this first Rhythm Kitchen workshop happen. Thank you to those who came along and helped, and those who passed the word on. We all had a fun time and it was great meeting you all.
