A music and arts workshop that focuses on creatively reusing and recycling rubbish.
All the activities are based around the theme of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Musically participants join in with the junk drumming orchestra, exploring different ways of playing everyday objects like bicycle wheels, plastic bins, and pots and pans. In the classroom children learn how to create their own instruments from materials they have collected from home and around school. We aim to work with each school in providing an arts project that is school specific. Previous “Junking It” arts projects have included a giant robot sculpture, large recycled banners, woven flower sculptures, and a Brazilian Tamako mask making session.
By participating in and experiencing alternative music and arts activities, the children learn about the importance of looking after their own environment. |
