As part of the BBC Springwatch Festival 2007, the Rhythm Kitchen was asked to run drop in drumming sessions in a Tipi. These sessions involved learning simple drumming patterns, using rhythmic nature-themed poetry and exploring vocal percussion techniques to recreate animal, bird and insect sounds. Outside the tipi children made their own rainmaker instruments and insect shakers.
Whether it was our junk instruments and boomwhackers or the hot June sun, our drumming sessions proved to be popular and full to capacity. The Tipi was certainly a great place to retreat to, explore sounds and have fun. |
